On First Friday, March 4, 2016, The Artists Gallery will present the work of Linda Hall in “Potpourri of the Palette.” Linda’s newest work will feature paintings of her favorite places, people and things. Whenever she paints, Linda feels that “the play of light on the landscape or in a still life are as in a sonata.” Her inspiration often comes from the words of American painter, Edward Hopper, who said, “If I could put it into words, I wouldn’t have to paint it.”
Linda has made her home in Betterton for the past nineteen years. She has a BFA in graphic art from Ohio University, her home state, and a minor in art education. Following graduation, she studied for three years with nationally known artist and illustrator in oil and watercolor, Charles Reid. After teaching art in grades K-12, she worked in advertising agencies and design studios for fifteen years. A renowned watercolorist, Linda has been the recipient of over fifty awards, including the 2010 Stephen Quiller Award in the NE Watercolor Society’s International and the 2011 Colson Printing Award in the BWS Mid Atlantic Show. Linda is a signature member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, and the Northeast Watercolor Society, and was recently awarded signature membership in the Philadelphia Watercolor Society. Linda Hall is a partner with The Artists Gallery, and a member of RiverArts and The Working Artists Forum in Easton.
Since her move to the Eastern Shore with its captivating light, Linda has found more time to focus on painting, including freelance graphic design, pen and ink, and watercolor house portraits. She also continues to teach watercolor twice a year from her home studio in Betterton.
The public is invited to meet Linda and see her latest work at The Artists Gallery on March 4, 2016 from 5-8 pm. Linda’s show will be featured in The Artists Gallery throughout the month of March. The Artists Gallery is located at 239 High Street in Chestertown, and is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10-5 and Sundays from 12:30-4:30.
