Our home town heroes present a fine mix of early American blues, jazz, folk and traditional music. With Sue Matthews on vocals, Tom McHugh on vocals, banjo, mouth harp, trumpet & kazoo, Bill Matthews on vocals & guitar and Tom Anthony on acoustic bass, this quartet is off to Clifden Arts Week in Ireland (where they are perennial favorites) in a few weeks. Right now you can catch them here in their home town club. The concert will feature a set of blues with Guthrie Matthews, a very fine electric and acoustic guitarist and his father Bill. In addition to the concert there will be an auction of three very special items: a private party at the Mainstay, a cruise on the Chester River and a partially completed CLC kayak kit – bring cash or your checkbook!

Two programs will be presented at the First Annual Anne d’Harnoncourt Memorial Symposium in conjunction with the exhibition Marcel Duchamp: Étant donnés, which celebrates the 40th anniversary of the work going on public display. In the first program, noted contemporary artist Jeff Wall discusses the impact and legacy of Marcel Duchamp’s Étant donnés. Please note: Each program is priced separately to allow attendance at one or both events.The Philadelphia Museum of Art and the History of Art Department at the University of Pennsylvania are jointly initiating this annual symposium in honor of Anne d’Harnoncourt to celebrate her contributions to art and culture in Philadelphia, the region, and beyond.
