Spy Special Report: Biking in Chestertown Part I
Posted by Jan van Ewijk on June 23, 2009 · 4 Comments
Upon hearing the news that the first segment of the Chestertown Trail had secured partial funding a few weeks ago, the Spy was intrigued by the idea of the town becoming a bike community. The addition of a pedestrian and bike path starting from the waterfront — with one fork running to Radcliffe Mill and another fork to Kent Plaza — could create one of the most attractive and useful commuter lanes in the country. Spy reporter Jan van Ewijk takes a hard look at what it means to be a “bike town”, and the benefits and risks that come with that title. As a native of the Netherlands, Jan brings a lifelong experience peddling through his native land and, for the last four years biking around Chestertown.
