College Offers New Audio Tour of Waterfront

In an exciting development for both education and tourism, Washington College’s C.V. Starr Center has launched a new self-guided audio tour called “History on the Waterfront: A Journey into Chestertown’s Past,” using Ipod mp3 players. Starr Director Adam Goodheart and project leader Jill Titus, have created an eighteen stop, one hour tour that includes highlights of the College’s Custom House, period art,  as well as some of Chestertown’s most historical sites along the Chester River waterfront.

Narrated by Goodheart, the tour covers such important events as Chestertown’s Tea Party, the slave trade, and highlights historic figures in town during revolutionary times.  Goodheart and Titus were interested in bringing these stories to students, local residents and visitors alike, as a introduction to the rich, and sometimes surprising, stories of Chestertown’s early days.

The tours will be offered beginning on October 9 on Fridays from Noon to 4 PM and on Saturdays from 11 AM to 4 PM. For more information, please visit starrcenter.washcollege.edu
